Miku space

This is one small step for Miku… one giant step for vocaloid kind. Modest virtual pop Idol Hatsune Miku decided to take her rightful place in the sky to overlook all her happy fans for all of eternity. Her Minions plan on launching the first Miku satellite into space from Nevada USA on September 19th.

The satellite carries a movable figure of Hachune Miku (a derivative character of VOCALOID Hatsune Miku). The project involves Nojiri Housuke (the novel author of “Rocket Girls”).

The major object of the project is to demonstrate that Hachune Miku can swing a green onion (leek) at zero gravity.

Here are pictures of the lovely rocket and satellite that will launch Miku towards the stars.

I am totally moved to tears by Miku’s courage. But Project Diva already proved that she could swing those leeks in outer space.

Update: Just a clarification that this is part of the Annual Amateur Rocketry Exhibition, and there is little or no chance that Miku will be staying in space, or even reaching the technical height of space outside of Earth’s gravitational pull, but during her Reentry she will experience Zero G’s for some time. Apparently Astro Boy will also be accompanying her in the competition. So if anything were to go wrong we can count on Astro Boy to save Miku from her imminent doom =3

The specific type of Miku being launched is a moveable Hachune Miku (Chibi Miku). Ganbatte!

That’s an interesting experiment, even if I don’t quite understand the science that’s being tested.

Dang, I thought it was a real satellite and was wondering how they were going to do it! Still impressive though.
