It’s the time of the year whereby I’m busy collecting hong baos, also known as red packets which contain money. Chinese New Year this year is on Valentine’s Day! My first day was packed with visiting my relatives, hence I wasn’t at home the whole day! You do notice that zotaku is quiet nowadays. It’s CNY, and also my exams are nearing, hence I find myself buried in my notes instead of checking for new updates T_T.

Last week I was at Chinatown to collect my figurine from the local shop. Chinatown is also the place to take some pictures since CNY is just around the corner. The area was packed with lots of decorations, also, I didn’t know where to head to XD. Here are some random shots I took while walking along the streets. Enjoy!

It’s the year of the tiger!

God of Fortune.. Closest shot I could do. He was in the middle of a busy road. LOL

Also, my relatives are coming over to my house for dinner tonight, might take a few peektures ;)

Here in Malaysia , its called ” Ang Pao ” instead of ” Hang Bao ” because most Chinese here speak Mandarin .

Wow looks like its Jam-packed in Chinatown ,

Here in KL , Almost every Tech Shop , Fashion Shops are closed and The streets are not as crowded as usual .

I don’t think there’s any difference. we speak mandarin too.. And I think most of us call them Hong baos. lol. The pictures weren’t taken on CNY, more of 2 days before CNY!

for mandarin, something happy kuai le

i went to two parades the past week. the new york chinatown parade was horrible to watch. it was ridiculously packed with people everywhere so you couldn’t get within 6 people to the parade on most streets. but with other places celebrating it around my area outside of chinatown, cny is just invigorating every year. especially with live firecrackers! (which they outlawed here without a permit in the last 10 years)

[...] Chinese New Year is the time where we have some time off to visit relatives and also, I get red packets (MONEY FOR ME!! :D). However, I think the money was meant to be spent as just after the busy days of CNY, I received a message from the local store to collect my stuff as they have arrived. Spent so much during that day! My Chinese History Teacher brought in snacks for the Chinese New Year =3

But if I wasn’t in her class I totally would not even have realized it was going on~ Since not too many people from Asian countries live in my part of the US.
