Many thanks to Matteas for this interesting idea(via Figure.fm user Bayonette). Choose your favorite anime girl character through the decade. I created my list, now you can too, here’s the template. 8 rules that you need to take note when choosing your characters :P.

  1. Pick a girl, then put in her respected fiscal year for which the character appeared. The fiscal year in Japan is April – December, plus January – March of the succeeding year. Example is fiscal year 2000, which starts at April 2000 and ends to March 2001
  2. Your picked character from an anime series, must have ended within the fiscal year. Example is Sonsaku Hakufu from Ikki Tousen, aired from July to October 2003.
  3. A character from an anime series that ended beyond a certain fiscal year is not eligible Example is Chidori Kaname from Full Metal Panic!; Ineligible in 2001, but eligible in 2002 because it ends on June 2002.
  4. Sequels are not allowed unless a certain character appeared first. However, you must pick one character as a representative from that anime series. Example is Signum from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A’s, aired from October to December 2005.
  5. Two or more character from the same series, but appeared in different fiscal years is not allowed! Example is Nagi Sanzenin and Sonia Shaflnarz from Hayate the Combat Butler. Nagi’s appearance is on 2007, while Sonia’s appearance is on 2009. Therefore, you must select one that will represent and leave one out!
  6. Two or more different characters, but same voice actor is not allowed. That means, no Haruhi Suzumiya and Konata Izumi (voiced by Aya Hirano) on your chart!
  7. No OVAs nor Movies, just TV Anime…
  8. Remember, you have ten spaces to fill out!

Sadly I broke one of the rules, I can only fill in 9 spaces, because most of my anime shows are more current. Well I don’t have a computer when I was young, so I only caught a few anime series, like Love Hina. Wanted to put Narusegawa Naru for 2000 but then I can’t put because of Tsukimiya Ayu in 2001. OMG. Because they’re voiced by the same seiyuu, that is my precious Horie Yui(HOCCHAN!!!)

2001 – Tsukimiya Ayu from Kanon. Perfect job on the UGUU. No one can beat her.
2002 – Anna from Shaman King. Lol for some reason I like Anna. Maybe it’s because she likes to scare her fiancee, Asakura Yoh(future husband XD)
2003 – Lacus Clyne from Gundam Seed. The singing goddess.
2004 – Fate Testarossa from Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha. This was easy. Fate also started my journey to be a fangirl of Nana Mizuki ^^.
2005 – Shana from Shakugan no Shana. Tsundere wins.
2006 – Saber from Fate/stay night. Well I’m not a big Saber fan, but she stood out the most to me in the 2006 anime shows. Lol.
2007 – Izumi Konata from Lucky Star. Otaku girl ftw.
2008 – Index from Toaru Majutsu no Index. Crazy sister that loves to  bite Touma. Haha.
2009 – Misaka Mikoto from Toaru Kagaku no Railgun. OMG BIRIBIRI IS LOVE.

Well here are those who qualified to be on the list but didn’t appear because I can only choose 1 :P

2007 – Have Karen from Code Geass, Kana from Minami-ke and Ibuki Fuuko from CLANNAD. Still overall I prefer Konata. Her crazy otaku wisdom is hilarious!!
2008 – Have Tsukiumi from Sekirei, Hanazono Hikari from Special A and Ikaruga Ibuki from Asu no Yoichi!. I would have chosen Ibuki if it wasn’t for the fact that Onee-sama being my 2009 girl :P. They’re voiced by the same VA.
2009 – Akiyama Mio from K-ON!. Well Mio lost to Onee-sama:P Mio is easily frightened of stuff, while my Misaka Mikoto will try to act cool or she is already cool!

Here are my picks (I hope I followed the rules… I wasn’t sure how the sequel provision might apply to Slayers Revolution – I counted it as a relaunch instead of a sequel, considering how long it had been since the original Slayers seasons.)

    http://paulsrandomstuff.files.wordpress.com/2010/07/decade.jpg

2000 – Lafiel (Banner of the Stars) [I'm breaking the sequel rule, but I figured it would be more fun to do that than leave a blank spot]

2001 – Yuzuriha Nekoi (X) [my only "supporting character" pick]

2002 – Mimiru (.hack//SIGN) [This show cost me so much money - I even have a "production sketch" of Mimiru]

2003 – Lavie Head (Last Exile)

    2004 – Mai Tokiha (My-HiME)

2005 – Sakura (Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE)

2006 – Haruhi Suzumiya (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) [I don't want to even think about how much money this show cost me.]

    2007 – Matsuri Shihou (Sola)

2008 – Lina Inverse (Slayers Revolution)

2009 – Aoba Tsukishima (Cross Game)
